Ray of Light Henna

As a henna artist I want to be able to give you the best possible henna stain for your special day.

My henna paste is freshly mixed about 2 days before your event and contains only natural ingredients. However, the colour achieved can vary from
person to person.

The henna should be done about 2 days before the event as the henna stain takes
approximately 24-48 hours to develop fully.

Below are some hints and tips that can help you achieve the darkest possible stain.

Before the henna event:
  • Oils / lotions act as barrier between the henna and the skin preventing a henna stain from developing. So, make sure the skin is free of any oily products.
  • Any manicures, pedicures, waxing, threading etc. should be done before the henna event (preferable the day before). Doing these after will hinder the henna stain.

During the henna event:

  • Longer the henna paste is on the skin, the darker the henna stain will be. Ideally the henna should be kept on for at least 1.5-2 hours minimum.
  • Keep the hennaed area as warm as possible. Warmer the area, better the stain. Cold hands / feet tend to give a poor colour.

After the henna event:

  • Do not wash the henna paste off with water. You should be able to simply scrape it off.
  • When the henna paste is removed an orange stain will be seen which then darkens over the next 24-48 hours to a deep brown/mahogany colour.
  • Avoid contact with water for at least 12 hours
  • Avoid excess exfoliation of the skin
